GALVALUME is a flat rolled steel sheet coated with alloy of Aluminium & zinc, produced by a continuous hot dip process. It has an attractive appearance and is widely accepted as a preferred alternative over both galvanized steel sheets and Aluminimum coated steel sheets used mainly in Roofing, Cladding, Gutters and Accessories.
Another advantage of GALVALUME is that it is four times more corrosion resistant than Galvanized steel in similar environmental conditions. The improved corrosion resistance of 55% Al-Zn alloy coated steel coils is derived from the unique combination of the barrier protection of the aluminimum and the sacrificial protection of the zinc. The formation of an insoluble aluminimum oxide layer provides the barrier protection while the zinc provides a sacrificial protection at cut edges, scratches, and areas of coating damage.
AZ-150 implies 150 grams of aluminimum-zinc alloy per square meter which alone can give 20 years of rust free life.
Grade 550 Steel used is known as High tensile steel with a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPA. This will not fly off when a strong wind blows unlike commercial quality or low tensile steel. Another benefit of GALVALUME sheet is that workmen can safely walk on top of the roof even at purlin spacing of 1.5 mts, with out the possibility of any buckling.
Another advantage of GALVALUME sheets are its profile with anti capillary groove. During rains, there is a tendency for water to rise between the overlap of the sheets due to capillary mechanism, and water crosses the crust of the sheet and enters the shed. Anti capillary groove resists the capillary mechanism of water and hence provides a complete leak proof solution to the shed.
